Mode of application
Portalak can be taken either undiluted or diluted. The dose should be selected based on the clinical effect.

The regimen of the preparation should be selected in accordance with the needs of the patient.
If the preparation is prescribed to the patient once a day, the dose should be taken at the same time of the day, for example, during breakfast. During therapy with laxatives, it is recommended to consume a sufficient amount of liquid (1.5-2 liters per day, which corresponds to 6-8 glasses).

The use of laxatives for children should be done in exceptional cases and requires medical supervision.
Drivers
Does not affect.
Overdose
If doses are too high, abdominal pain and diarrhea may occur, accompanied by loss of water and electrolytes, and in severe cases may lead to hypernatremia and hyperkalemia.
Recommended treatment includes discontinuation of the preparation or dose reduction, correction of electrolyte imbalance in case of excessive fluid loss due to diarrhea or vomiting.
Side effects
During the first days of treatment, flatulence may occur, which usually disappears after a few days. When using the preparation in doses higher than recommended, abdominal pain and diarrhea may occur. In this case, the dose should be reduced. When high therapeutic doses are used for a long time (usually only in patients with portosystemic encephalopathy), electrolyte imbalance due to diarrhea may occur.
In case of any negative reactions, you should consult your doctor regarding the further use of the preparation.
Interaction
If the patient is taking any other medications, the doctor should be informed.
When taking lactulose with pH-dependent enteric preparations, remember that lactulose lowers intestinal pH.
With simultaneous use with broad-spectrum antibiotics or antacids, the therapeutic efficacy of lactulose may decrease.
It is not recommended to take lactulose within 2 hours after taking other medicines.
Lactulose can increase potassium loss induced by other preparations (eg, thiazides, corticosteroids, and amphotericin B). Concomitant use with cardiac glycosides can increase the effect of glycosides due to potassium deficiency.
Storage conditions
Store in its original packaging at a temperature not exceeding 25 ° C. Do not freeze.
