Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics. the main active component of the preparation is eucalyptus oil with a content of at least 80% of the antispasmodic active 1,8-cineole. its action is combined with the action of pine oil, which contains 30-40% alpha-pinenes, which improve blood circulation. the pharmacological action of these essential oils leads to liquefaction and dissolution of bronchial secretions, increased excretion by ciliated epithelium, weakening of catarrhal manifestations in the respiratory tract, anti-inflammatory action. due to their lipophilic properties, the active substances are well distributed over the skin and are absorbed. after absorption, they are partially excreted through the lungs, which means they get through the blood circulation directly to the site of action. thus, the preliminary effect of inhalation is enhanced by bathing and, in the case of bed rest, is complemented by the positive effect of a warm bath, which, in combination with active substances, induces perspiration.
